Barnes And Noble's Modern Nook Revolutionary Wireless Reading Device Confronts Amazon's Digital Ebook Reader

The recent Nook wireless book reader being produced by Barnes and Noble, the worlds largest book store with over 1,300 branches, looks set to lock horns with the worlds number one selling digital books reader, the Amazon kindle.

Although not long released, the Nook electronic book readers are looking to ruffle Amazon's feathers even more by taking it on straightforwardly in a area of the marketplace, that up to yet, the Amazon Kindle has dominated. Ever since it's launch, firstly as the Amazon kindle then later in February 2009 as the Kindle , it has re-ignited the digital ebook reader marketplace by offering a blend of revolutionary features, due to it's on the spot connect wherever wireless networking and also the chief variety of books available for download at excellent, cheaper than the high street, price.

No doubt after going through ebook reader reviews, buyers brought in to the model in a large way and it is just lately that the rest of the industry have woken up to the fact that this is the potential of book purchasing. An so in the last couple of months we have had the broadcast from Sony of their intent to enroll in the fun, with their soon to be unveiled Daily Edition, and the most recent press release from Barnes and Noble that their own candidate, the Nook, will be back to complete production in the not too distant future.

There are no doubts that the Kindle2 is the reader everyone is gunning for. And to be honest it's nice to see a little opposition in this sector. Yes we have had the iRex iLiad but the ebook readers reviews disliked it because it was a little on the hefty side to be a wireless book reader, ideal for workplace use with the 1:1 A4 facsimile, but much like the Dx - another wireless ebook reader - not something you may want to take on vacation, or put in your bag or pocket for that matter, and it was by no means going to vie on price was it?

Hence now we have 2 big companies keen to go head to head, with the power of Amazon kindle, on all fronts. The book reader arm of sony recently increased the size of their library at the Sony-Store and reduced the costs of their digitally delivered novels to equal that of Amazons and with any luck Barnes and Noble, who have at all times been in the matching ballpark price wise, will equal them title for title also.

But the major news for consumers has to be the shift away from proprietary file formats utilized by Sony in the initial days and nonetheless used by the Kindle2 now. To clarify the state of affairs I will apply Kindle2 as an illustration, bear in mind this is still the case with the Kindle so it makes it clearer.
